Unproduced Display Stand for 12" Figures
This large display standee, consisting of a header card and three vertically-arranged display bins, was evidently set for release with Kenner's 12" action figure line of 1978. Unfortunately, it was never issued; in fact, the display was never featured in any Kenner marketing catalogs that I am aware of, and thus was never made available to retail outlets. As you can see in this first image, the display is shown on a "Pre-Pack" sheet, which indicates that it was at least planned at some point for advertisement and eventual distribution. It is possible that this particular sheet is a "proof" of sorts, which was cut from inclusion in the finished catalog.

It is impossible to say exactly what the display would have looked like had it actually made it into stores--while it surely would have resembled this prototype in most respects, it probably would have differed as well. The header card itself is quite crude, taking as its image the sketchy Darth Vader line art provided in the Kenner Repro Art Books of 1978 and 1979. Oddly enough, though this standee was never issued, Kenner adopted a similar design for two of its later Return of the Jedi toy displays, both of which were released in 1983 or 1984.
