Unlicensed Hungarian Board Game
Many collectors of foreign Star Wars items are familiar with the colorful board game that was issued in Turkey. Whereas unused examples of this item have been imported in large quantities by American dealers, its Hungarian counterpart never seems to have made its way to American shores in sufficient numbers. It's sort of a shame, because, in my opinion, the Hungarian game is much more substantial and attractive than the Turkish one. It comes in a heavy cardboard box decoarted with typically gaudy artwork showing Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker dueling.

The board, too, has some great graphics, depicting various Star Wars--and apparently some non-Star Wars--scenes (notice the image of the Falcon flying through an asteroid field in the lower right of the board).

Here's a shot of some of the game pieces. Obviously, they have never been punched out of the cardboard sheet they came stamped in. There is considerable charm to the way in which each character is depicted. Needless to say, I really enjoy this piece.
