ESB Cloud City Playset Packaging Layout Board
In today's toy industry, a large portion of layout design is accomplished through the use of computers. The design process during the vintage Star Wars era was quite different. The prototype seen here was utilized in layout design for the Sears Exclusive ESB Cloud City playset packaging.

Interestingly enough, a few noteworthy differences exist between this layout board and the final packaging. One difference exists in the following line, "Han Solo, Bespin Outfit" which was written as "Han Solo in his Bespin Outfit" on the production packaging. Differences also exist in the trademark line between the layout and production packaging.

The above photo shows the layout board with its' thin overlay atop the portion seen in the first photo.

Finally we finish up with the cover which folds over the layout board. It features the emblem of a well known firm who completed a large amount of work for Kenner in terms of package design, photo art, etc. Prototypes for significant playsets like this are quite popular amongst collectors and it fits quite nicely into Sandy's collection devoted to ESB items.
