Small Wing Die Cast Darth Vader TIE Fighter
It seems that a large toy dealer first discovered this variation. Now it has graced the pages of many Tomart publications including both Action Figure Digest and the incredibly useful Official Price Guide to Worldwide Star Wars Collectibles. This wings on this die-cast vehicle are about 2/3 the size of the production version. Just like the one shown here, most came directly from Kenner employees. Rumor has it that there are quite a few of these things around, but you could probably trace each back to Kenner sources. Most have shown up completely packaged just like their production counterparts. It\'s interesting to note that the bubbles used on the packages were first small then enlarged when the wings were also enlarged, so it\'s not just some goofy error. The size difference isn\'t apparent until you compare the two ships side by side. High values have been placed on this item, but because it\'s probably a borderline prototype it\'s hard to set prices. One funny thing is that there was recently a change in the wing size on Galoob\'s Darth Vader TIE fighter for their Action Fleet line. Coincidence or X-File? You be the judge.
