Biker Scout Proof Card Series
Putting together a complete series of proof cards for a specific character is easier said than done. I've managed to put together a set including one of every cardback that the Biker Scout appeared on. Here is a nice shot of the backs.

In order from left to right we have: a Return of the Jedi 65 back transition card with the Ewoks showing and Revenge wording on the back, a 65A back with the Ewoks blacked out, an uncut 65A back with the color bars still present (which I feel is an uncut production card, thus it's place later in the series), a 65C back sample card with the Emperor offer printed, a 77A back signed production sample, and finally a POTF 92 back. The only other variation I have come across is a POTF sample card.

Here we see a nice close-up comparison shot of the Revenge and Return backs. You can see that the Ewoks were never blacked out on the Revenge back. You'll also notice that the copyright text, located in the lower left corner, differs on the earlier Revenge back. Also worth mentioning, though not really apparent from the photo, is that the Revenge back is a very grainy copy. It was probably a very early sample that was put together as a mock-up.

Finally, we see a close-up of the signature on the 77A back. This "proof" came from a batch of other signed 77A backs. It is my belief that this card is not a printer's proof so much as it is a signed production sample. I believe that one of each cardback being printed at the time would have been pulled from the line, examined, and signed off on to maintain quality control. I have also seen box flats and carded figures signed in a similar manner and by the same person.
