Hoth Battle With Kenner Toys Toy Area Header

A large and striking toy-area header card, this Empire Strikes Back display is notable for its complex image of several different Kenner toys interacting in one composed scene. Although they have been photographed in such a way as to merge into a believable whole, the photo actually contains at least 8 different toys of widely varying scales: AT-ST, Micro Collection AT-ST (from the Hoth Generator Attack), AT-AT, Snowspeeder, Micro Collection Snowspeeder, Battle Damaged X-Wing, Micro Collection X-Wing, and Rebel Transport. I think its safe to say that this is the most involved piece of Kenner file photography ever shot.

I recently had the pleasure of talking to the photographer who assembled and shot this scene (he was also featured in a recent magazine), and he went into some detail about the accomplishment of this image, a reproduction of which still hangs proudly on his studio wall. Apparently, what you see in the photo required every last inch of studio space available (meaning it took up an entire room), countless industrial-sized boxes of laundry detergent, and a full day of scene manipulation and body contortion on the part of the photographer in order to achieve it. Of course, the results were well worth the effort, and this display remains the best commerical example of the image.
